Don’t miss out on new SBRI healthcare funding opportunities

SBRI Healthcare provides a mechanism to signal the challenges that the NHS and the wider system face and invites entrepreneurs to deploy innovative solutions to deliver improved outcomes of care and efficiencies. Their individual competition themes are scoped by working in close collaboration with the Health Innovation Network and frontline NHS and social care staff.The below competitions are open to any innovation (e.g., medical device, in-vitro diagnostic, digital health solutions and AI solutions, behavioural interventions, and service improvements) that meets the entry criteria and the challenges described in the Challenge brief.

Competition 25 – Women’s Health

The SBRI Healthcare Competition 25 Phase 1 funding competition invites breakthrough technologies to address challenges in Women’s Health and aims to identify innovative solutions which have the potential to enter the NHS, social care and the wider market, tackling:

1. Gynaecological Conditions and Hormonal Health
2. Mental Health
3. Chronic Conditions and Long-term Health

At early stage, the SBRI Healthcare programme offers a two-phased development approach.

Competition 25 – AMR

Under the overall theme of “Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)”, Competition 25 Phase 1 invites early-stage innovations in the following four priority areas:

1. Point of care diagnostics, monitoring, and susceptibility testing
2. Prescribing decision support and risk stratification
3. Novel care delivery methods
4. Infection prevention and control (IPC)

At early stage, the SBRI Healthcare programme offers a two-phased development approach.

Competition 26 – Urgent & Emergency Care

Competition 26 – Urgent & Emergency Care, Phase 3, aims to identify innovations at an advanced stage of development that address three priority areas:

1. Health and Care outside of Hospitals: Accessing the Right Care and Reducing Demand
2. Reducing Length of Stay and Improving Discharge
3. Supporting Workforce

The aim of the competition is to facilitate the collection of evidence in real-world settings and build on the value proposition required by commissioners and regulators to accelerate the uptake of the innovation into relevant health or social care settings.

Competition 26 – Stroke

Under this Phase 3 Funding Competition, three challenges have been identified via consultation with clinicians and other stakeholders working in provision of care across the spectrum and review of the James Lind Alliance Stroke Priority Setting Partnership for Stroke Research:

1. Early diagnosis
2. Rehabilitation
3. Life after stroke

The aim of the competition is to facilitate the collection of evidence in real-world settings and build on the value proposition required by commissioners and regulators to accelerate the uptake of the innovation into relevant health or social care settings.
