Advanced Professional Training in Bioscience – Swansea University

APT Bioscience was officially launched at BioWales 2011 in response to a recognised gap in the market for practical, science skills training in Wales. In summary our remit is to help businesses in the Life Science, Biotechnology, Healthcare and related sectors develop their staff and improve their competitiveness through the provision of high quality accredited skills training.

Whether your training needs are for essential laboratory and technical skills at an introductory level, or specialist skills and Continued Professional Development at Postgraduate level, the APT Bioscience team is interested in talking to you to see how we can help. Our dedicated team of 7 tutors are all qualified to PhD level and are experienced in teaching the hands-on skills necessary for laboratory-based professionals.

All our training modules have been accredited by Swansea University, giving you the assurance that not only will your staff gain practical skills in designing, undertaking, recording and reporting their laboratory work, but also a sound academic understanding of the best practice principles and theory behind the work they undertake.

We aim to enthuse and motivate our learners whatever their learning style, by encouraging small group work, discussion and the opportunity to ask the experts and tailor their learning towards their current or aspirational job roles. They also benefit from the opportunity to network with and learn from the shared experiences of other professionals. Our teaching and learning methods recognise that not everyone learns in the same way and at the same pace, so modules are delivered through a combination of practicals, presentations, on-line learning and interactive exercises and where possible, learners have the opportunity to relate their studies directly to the challenges they face in their daily work.

APT Bioscience joined MediWales earlier this year in order to meet sector professionals in Wales, understand their training needs and ensure that all MediWales members have the opportunity to talk to us about how they can benefit from our training which is fully subsidised for eligible companies in the Convergence region.

APT Bioscience is interested to hear from you if:

  • Your company could benefit from a review of the scientific training needs of its staff
  • You have staff that would be interested in enrolling on any of our courses
  • You would be interested in promoting your laboratory or technical products by means of lending or supplying equipment for our courses to give them additional relevance to industry
