Health and Care Research Wales: Wales Cancer Research Centre
Type of organisation: NHS, Contract Research & Testing
The Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC) is hosted at Cardiff University and funded by Health and Care Research Wales, with an all-Wales remit.
Our vision is for Wales to have a well-connected, high-performing cancer research community that delivers world-leading research, impacting cancer rates and patient outcomes across the world.
To achieve this, we are co-ordinating the delivery of the first-ever cancer research strategy for Wales (CReSt). We work closely with higher education institutes and researchers, clinicians, healthcare providers, third sector organisations and patient and public representatives to deliver research excellence.
Our research spans the six priority themes in CReSt: Precision and mechanistic oncology, immuno-oncology, radiotherapy, cancer trials, palliative and supportive oncology and prevention, early diagnosis and health services research.
