Type of organisation: Academic

Diabetes and related metabolic conditions are a leading cause of ill-health and premature mortality exerting huge financial pressures on the health services. The Diabetes Research Group at Swansea is active in undertaking and supporting translational research to advance development and implementation of therapeutic strategies for prevention and treatment of diabetes. The team can provide specialist diabetes research advice to researchers, health care professionals, industry and third sector organisations. We can also facilitate engaging and involving members of the public in diabetes research.

The Diabetes Research Group Swansea Laboratory is a Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) accredited laboratory which provides a high quality service specialising in assays relevant to diabetes and endocrinology research. We provide an end to end service supporting clinical trials including sample logistics, sample receipt, handling, testing, storage, data analysis and reporting of data. We also support the development and testing (including validation) of new devices and assays. The laboratory has many years experience of both academic and commercial collaboration working with small research groups through to large pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies.
