Biological research presents unparalleled opportunities and challenges for basic science and its exploitation to benefit health and the environment. Dr Holt and Dr Mason will talk about Cardiff Universities Arthritis Research Centre.

The lecture will focus on exciting new developments carried out within the Cardiff Centre, sponsored by Arthritis Research UK. The lecture will link the mechanical loading of tissues within human joint for example bone, cartilage, with biological changes that accompany arthritis and degenerative joint disease. Answers will be given to why we experience pain and inflammation for example, and how this is particularly noticeable with diseases like Arthritis.
