Aberystwyth University has a breadth of internationally recognised research activity incorporating fields relating to life sciences and human health. This expertise and know-how, combined with specialist facilities, underpins the portfolio of commercial services and collaborative research opportunities offered to external organisations.

The University is currently involved in a number of health related research collaborations involving researchers from the award winning Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, together with experts from the Departments of Computer Science, Psychology and Sport & Exercise Science.

Research interests which have human health applications include: microbiology, parasitology, food quality, diagnostic & analytical sciences, proteomics, genomics & metabolomics, animal science & nutrition, visualisation & healthcare imaging, respiratory and endurance physiology, the role of exercise in mental health and well-being, biomechanics, motor control, physiology, nutrition and cognitive and behavioural psychology.

Businesses and external organisations can access Aberystwyth University technology and expertise through Commercialisation and Consultancy Services, which provides a central enquiry service for those with an interest in research and development opportunities, consultancy services, continuing professional development, licensing and technology transfer opportunities.

In recent years the University has successfully licensed a number of products and services based on Aberystwyth innovations and our current technology opportunities , including the Human and Animal Health portfolio, can be viewed online.

Commercialisation and Consultancy Services welcomes all enquiries and expressions of interest in the portfolio of services offered and we pride ourselves on offering a professional and knowledgeable service to industry.

In addition to providing a ‘first point of contact’ through which to access Aberystwyth expertise, CCS can also advise on the range of funding streams which may be available to support collaborative research and development activities involving Aberystwyth University researchers, commercial partners and/or external research organisations.
